Temporary road Closure – R758 from Junction with R756 at Lockstown to junction with L 8353 at Annacarney

Wicklow County Council hereby gives notice of the temporary closure of the following public road

Road to be closedR758 from Junction with R756 at Lockstown to junction with L 8353 at Annacarney.  
Period of closureMonday 4th March to Friday 17th May, 2024 – 24 hour road closure  
Alternative RoutesNorthbound Route.
From junction with R756 at Garryknock via L 8352 Togher road to junction with R758 at Annacarney.  

Southbound Route. From junction with R758 at Annacarney via L 8352 Togher road to junction with R756 at Garryknock.  
Reason for ClosureThis road closure is necessary to facilitate new road construction and Junction improvement at Lockstown Valleymount as part of a Specific Safety Improvement Scheme.  

Wicklow County Council apologise for any inconvenience caused

For the duration of the roadworks The LL183 Sallins to Arklow / Arklow to Sallins bus will head towards Sallins and will continue on the R756 to Hollywood and then the bus will take a right turn onto the N81. On the return journey towards Arklow the the bus will operate the same route.

Valleymount Church and Ballyknockan Junction stops will not be served during this period. All other bus stops will be serviced as normal. As a result some delays can be expected.

Interim bus stop Route 885 Baltinglass to Sallins till December 22nd 2023

The new route 885 commenced on Monday 20th November 2023. Until the until Friday 22nd December, an interim service is operating between Sallins Rail Station and Ballymore Eustace. The service departs Sallins Rail Station (The Waterways) at 4pm, serving all stops to Ballymore Eustace, arriving at 4.39pm where the service will terminate. The NTA and Local Link are currently looking at options to continue to serve demand from January 2024 onwards

New LL885 Baltinglass to Sallins Starting November 20th 2023!

TFI Local Link Carlow Kilkenny Wicklow is enhancing bus services from Baltinglass to Sallins from Monday the 20th of November.

This enhancement is part of the Connecting Ireland Rural Mobility Plan which is a major national public transport initiative developed and funded by the National Transport Authority (NTA) as part of the Transport for Ireland (TFI) Network.

Route 885 will be enhanced to extend from Ballymore to Baltinglass and will operate four daily return services Monday to Sunday. The route will offer enhanced connectivity to Stratford-on-Slaney, Dunlavin, Brannockstown, Ballymore Eustace, Blessington and Naas.

The enhanced route will provide peak-time services and evening services for commuters and will continue to offer improved connectivity to Sallins Train Station, Naas Hospital and regional bus and rail services.

Speaking ahead of the launch, TFI Local Link Carlow Kilkenny Wicklow Manager, Jackie Meally said: “This route will provide people with more access to services and onward connections seven days a week.

“As a result of this enhancement people can now travel by bus to a wide range of public and social services such as work, appointments along with onward train and bus connections.

“This service has been long sought after and I want to acknowledge the work of the NTA, Connecting Ireland and the input of local people and community leaders from Baltinglass.”
